It sounds like North Korea’s comprehensive list reads more like a list of demands from a blackmailer. It might have a better chance of having the United States acquiesce to its demands under a different administration. The Bush administration would appear weak if it went along with this. It is already taking too much flak because of the Iraqi quagmire, and this could give them the chance to introduce a military presence that is more conventional, with conventional objectives. I believe that it would be unwise for North Korea to pursue this course at this time.
