[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Bus, taxi drivers criticized

I’ve been living in Korea for 18 months. I also travel a lot in other Asian countries. I really wonder why the Korean authorities are not able to educate their crazy bus and taxi drivers.
They don’t care about red lights, and most of the time they are the ones responsible for traffic jams. They do not respect any road signs.
They don’t care about pedestrians.
On the highways, they speed at 100 kilometers (62 miles) to 120 kilometers an hour and have a completely irresponsible way of driving (they drive less than 20 meters, or 66 feet, behind cars, leaving no chance of avoiding an accident in case the first vehicle suddenly brakes).
As long as no effort is made on this issue, no progress will be made in reducing the death toll.
For all these reasons, Korea is far behind and remains at the lower level of developing countries with regard to driving education.
