[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Korea’s amazing surgeons

I read with interest your article about the normality of plastic surgery in Korea. I’m from Singapore, and my culture views it as a privilege of the rich and famous, although few of our celebrities do it.
I’m a recent convert to Korean TV dramas since watching “Lovers in Paris” starring Park Shin-yang and Kim Jung-eun. Both of them are relatively unknown actors in Singapore. I was surprised and dismayed to discover that Kim Jung-eun has undergone numerous surgeries to achieve her current beautiful “face,” which led me to find out more about this plastic surgery phenomenon in Korea. It’s surprisingly even more widespread than in Japan.
Comparing Kim Jung-eun’s face when she first appeared in TV dramas to her most recent TV drama, I’m filled with a sense of awe as to how sophisticated and advanced Korean plastic surgeons have become, having thought that this surgery was only the domain of Hollywood plastic surgeons.
