Will the government of Kim Jong-il turn into the next Palestinian Liberation Organization?
It has been often noted that the PLO was an organization that never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
No matter how generous the offer, it was never “good enough,” and rather than accept a big piece of the pie, it wanted the whole thing and more.
As each missed opportunity went by, the PLO became weaker, and the plight of those who were being governed by them worsened.
This intransigence, and their other actions, got the PLO only offers of smaller pieces at the next opportunity.
While there are differences, the path being followed by the government of Kim Jong-il is remarkably similar to the one traveled by the PLO.
Their next opportunity will be the week of August 29. Will they miss it?
