[LETTERS to the editor]Missing in Madison Square Garden

Nam Jeong-ho wrote that Rain played to a sold-out crowd of 6,500 at Madison Square Garden (“Big Apple debut is a hit for this Korean pop icon” Feb. 4). Where was the concert held? According to the MSG Web site, the seating capacity for the Arena ranges from 19,000 to 20,000, depending on the stage setup. It’s my guess they were in the much smaller MSG Theater, which has a seating capacity of 2,000 to 5,600 for concerts.
Even the NY Times article that Mr. Nam referred to said Rain was going to play to 10,000 people over two days, so I’m not sure where the 6,500 figure came from. None of this should take away from Rain’s great achievement, but it should serve notice to the JoongAng staff for lackluster fact-checking and nationalistic obfuscation.
