Candy (R)

The film tells a story about two young bohemians named Dan (Heath Ledger) and Candy (Abbie Cornish). The two fall in love while shooting heroin together. In the beginning, Dan and Candy are completely occupied with sex, shoplifting Sand heroin. Although Candy’s parents disapprove of their unhealthy relationship, Candy and Dan cling to each other and their deadly drug. Their free-spirited lifestyle soon comes to an end when they start to pay the price for their addiction.
Candy becomes a prostitute to make money for heroin, and Dan is a thief and a con man. Candy’s miscarriage leads them to more despair. Depressed by her miscarriage, Candy sustains a nervous breakdown, and her parents finally force her into rehab.

Street Kings (R)
Crime, Drama, Thriller/ 108 min/ English
Tom Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) is a veteran LAPD vice Detective who wants to find out who is behind the mysterious death of his former partner, Detective Terrence Washington (Terry Crews). Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker plays Captain Wander, Ludlow’s supervisor. Captain Wander keeps an eye on Ludlow to keep him out of the clutches of Internal Affairs Captain Biggs (Hugh Laurie). Ludlow searches Los Angeles with help from a young homicide detective (Chris Evans) to discover Washington’s killers. Their determination pays off when the two detectives track down the murderers and confront them.

Definitely, Maybe (15)
Romantic comedy/ 112 min/ English
Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds), a 30-something Manhattan dad in the midst of a divorce, gets a chance to stroll down memory lane when his 10-year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin), asks about his life before marriage. Will’s story begins in 1992, when he has moved to New York from Wisconsin. His story recounts romantic relationships with three very different women.
Will changes the names of the three women so Maya can guess who her mother is. Is her mother Will’s college sweetheart Emily (Elizabeth Banks)? Or is she his longtime best friend April (Isla Fisher)? Or is she the ambitious journalist Summer (Rachel Weisz)?
As Maya listens to her father’s stories of romance, she realizes that love is not simple.

Taken (R)
Action, Thriller/ 93 min/ English, French
Bryan (Liam Neeson) is a former spy who is now a typical American father in retirement.
His peaceful life comes to a shattering end when his one and only daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace), is kidnapped while in Paris on vacation. Bryan tries to save her by following clues from Kim’s broken cell phone, but everyone he tries to contact is killed.
After secretly tapping the line of the possible enemy, Bryan finds out that there is another woman being kidnapped who can help him learn more clues about Kim.
During the ordeal, Bryan knows that he has to remain calm and strong, and he draws on his training as a secret agent. But it is hard for him to keep cool because of his love for his daughter.
Bryan finds Kim’s jacket and realizes that she is not far away. Then he is shocked to learn that she is being forced into sexual slavery.

The Bucket List (12)

Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) is a multimillionaire who has made a fortune from the private health-care business. Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) is a car mechanic and devoted family man who couldn’t afford to put himself through college.
The two old men from different backgrounds meet in a hospital, where they learn that they have terminal cancer.
Cole remembers the “bucket list,” a list of to-dos before kicking the bucket, that a college professor once talked about. As they scribble down their bucket lists, they realize that they have many things to do before they die.
The pair then take a life-searching journey to achieve everything they want while they are alive.
Their adventure takes them to Africa for a safari, to the Egyptian pyramids, to high altitudes for skydiving and to a race track for some serious motoring. As they cross items off the list, the two dying men learn the meaning of life and friendship.

Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon (15)

Based on “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” a vast novel by Luo Guangzhong spanning 600 years, the film presents the legendary story of Zhao Zilong (Andy Lau), who is not the main character of the original story. During wartime, China was divided into many city nations, causing endless fights among ambitious kings, and citizens’ dreams of unification divided the country.
Zhao, being one such dreamer, is a common man who comes from humble roots. He rises high, however, after courageously saving the king’s son. After the king recognizes his bravery and loyalty, Zhao becomes one of the most trusted generals.
Zhao’s heroism becomes legend, but as years pass and the throne changes hands, the war rages on.
When the newly enthroned king decides on one last war to defeat the evil warlord, the aging Zhao embarks on his last and greatest campaign against the troops under the command of Cao Ying (Maggie Q), a granddaughter of the warlord.
