Elizabeth (Helena Bergstrom) and Grudren (Maria Lundkvist) are two 40-year-old divorcees. They meet each other quite awkwardly. Gudren tickets Elizabeth when she parks her car in a loading zone. Regardless of their start, the two ladies quickly create a strong bond of friendship. Elizabeth, a confident gynecologist, leads the shy Gudren through the unexpected moments of scary single life. They spend their time at the clubs and bars of Stockholm and start to see a different side of their relationship with men.

A small family of three lives in the town of Tankwang, North Korea. Regardless of their financial problems, they are happy to simply be with one another. The father, Yong-su (Cha In-pyo), heads to China to earn some money, only to find himself being chased by the police when he is suspected of illegal action.
Two months after Yong-su’s departure for China, Yong-hwa’s health worsens and she finally passes away. Eleven-year-old Joon (Shin Myung-chul), now all by himself, heads off to find his father. Yong-su lands in South Korea and meets a broker who helps him find Joon. Their reunion, which seemed impossible, now seems imminent. Unfortunately, more obstacles stand in their way.
