[NEW RELEASES] Felix Mendelssohn

Unlike most artists, Mendelssohn was wealthy, which freed him from having to perform regularly to make money, and had a stable life with a family he loved.
It’s impossible to pick the best of the symphonies, sonatas, concertos, piano solos, arias and sacred music sharing space on this three-album set, but the music of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is most impressive. It evokes images of Shakespeare’s characters wandering through the forest in scenes from the famous play. The music of the wedding march is especially grand to hear.
The soft piano of “Spring Song” offers more than just the blooms of the season. We can hear Mendelssohn’s feelings expressed as the melody flows romantically and ingeniously throughout the piece.
