Barbara Daly (Julianne Moore) is a beautiful and charismatic woman who married above her class, tying the knot with Brooks Baekeland (Stephen Dillane), heir to the Bakelite plastics fortune. As part of a rich family, she seems to have it all. The ideal life, however, turns out to be a delusion. Her husband’s friends abruptly start looking down on her, and her husband leaves her alone all the time.
Barbara starts to find comfort in alcohol and her son, who is a failure in his father’s eyes. The emotionally unstable child grows closer to his mother than his father, as Barbara is the one who always takes care him.
Brooks frequently leaves home to travel, and Barbara’s relationship with her husband becomes strained. As her son matures, Barbara’s relationship with him begins to fall apart. The interaction between Barbara and her husband becomes even more uncomfortable, and the two realize they have sown the seeds of tragedy.
The film is narrated through the son’s voice. It is based on the true story of an infamous socialite who dealt with serious issues involving matrimony and incest, among others. It was directed by Tom Kalin, one of the leading filmmakers of 1990’s New Queer Cinema.
Arthur and the Invisibles (NR)

Arthur (Freddie Highmore) is a spirited 10-year-old boy who faces numerous troubles. His parents are always away looking for work, and a real estate developer is about to tear down his grandmother’s (Mia Farrow) country house to turn it into a block of flats. The real estate developer is demanding that his grandfather return and sign some papers to pay off the family debt.
Arthur discovers that the key to solving the problem lies in his grandfather’s secret treasure, which is hidden somewhere in the land of the Minimoys. The gate to the land, which is ruled by a king (Robert DeNiro), opens only once every thousand days.
Within this realm are small creatures that Arthur’s grandfather helped relocate to their garden. They live in perfect harmony with the environment. Somewhere among them, though, is a hidden pile of rubies.
Arthur ventures into the world of Minimoys, where he meets Princess Selenia (Madonna) and her brother Betameche (Jimmy Fallon). They become friends, romance beckons and a villain (David Bowie) enters the picture. They set off on a journey to discover the treasure that will save his grandmother’s home.
The film, first released in 2006, is based on the best-selling children’s book, “Arthur and the Invisibles,” written by director Luc Besson, a story about the true meaning of courage and the power of imagination.

Agathe Villanova (Agnes Jaoui), a politically engaged and well-known feminist, returns home to southern France for 10 days in order to help her sister, Florence (Pascale Arbillot), get their deceased mother’s affairs in order.
Florence lives in the house with her husband, her children and Mimouna (Mimouna Hadji), the housekeeper.
Mimouna is from Algeria and moved to France with the Villanova family at the time of Algeria’s independence.
Troubles begin as Agathe’s boyfriend, Antoine (Frederic Pierrot), suddenly leaves her. At the same time, Mimouna’s married son ? Karim ? develops a crush on his co-worker, while Karim’s friend Michel Ronsard (Jean-Pierre Bacri) faces rejection from his son.
One hot summer day in August, Karim and Michel decide to make a documentary film on Agathe, featuring her as a successful woman. They plan to interview Agathe, but they face obstacles from the abnormal weather conditions.
The film primarily focuses on how each of the characters struggle to solve their own problems.
The film is directed by Agnes Jaoui and was first shown in 2006. Its original French title is “Parlez-Moi De La Pluie.”

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the “Juon” movies, the first two films ? “Juon: Old Lady in White” and “Juon: Girl in Black” ? have been merged together.
Juon: Old Lady in White is about a cursed house where a young girl and her family were brutally murdered. Even after 10 years, the curse lingers.
Akane (Akina Minami) is pulled into the horrors by the disgruntled dead.
Juon: Girl in Black is about a nurse named Yuko (Ai Kago), who looks after a sick young girl suffering from an unknown disease.
In the body of the girl, Yuko discovers the corpses of unborn twin girls. The spirits of the two unborn girls are angry, and the horror begins.
