[NEW RELEASES] Daughtry

After selling 4.5 million copies of his first disc, 2006’s “Daughtry,” the “American Idol” finalist cranked up his own band, whipped up a dozen originals and created yet another blockbuster. Millions of fans are hooked on Daughtry’s commanding voice, which envelops you with its perfect mix of musicianship and deep passion. His songs contain a sense of musical urgency sure to convert even the skeptics.

Every track on this album draws upon the challenges Daughtry and his fellow band members faced on their journey to stardom. My personal favorites are “September” - a calm ballad that exposes Daughtry’s feelings about his past experiences in his old hometown - and “Learn My Lesson,” an emotional mid-tempo rock beat co-written by Mitch Allan of SR-71.

Daughtry earned respect from his fellow musicians and fans for his humbleness, but I give him credit for reaching deep down within and singing about his personal experiences.
