[Letters] Good company is the medicine

Apropos the news “Elderly skipping meals, raising experts’ concern” (Korea JoongAng Daily, Nov. 17, 2010), I am really pained to read the plight of lonely senior citizens in Korea.
I have full empathy with them as I live alone here in Seoul and share the same predicament.
There is certainly a strong case for the social concerns of lonely elders in Korea, including foreigners like me, not just for more nutritious food but for good company, which is often more important than high-calorie food not required by older people.
