The regular season champion KT Sonicboom split two semifinal games at home in their best-of-five series against the Dongbu Promy. Now the Sonicboom is headed to Wonju for two games on the road at Dongbu.
The two teams have been closely matched throughout the season, going 3-3 against each other in the regular season. There’s also coaching intrigue here, with Promy head coach Kang Dong-hee and the Sonicboom’s leader Jeon Chang-jin spending four years on the same coaching staff until Jeon moved on to head KT in 2009.
Regular season MVP Park Sang-oh hasn’t been very valuable for the Sonicboom in the playoffs so far, and getting him involved will prove important for KT.
