FETISHRAMA

테스트

Pyo Gallery, Cheongdam-dong

To July 2: This is a solo exhibition by Do Byung-kyu, whose artwork centers on the use of plastic baby dolls.

In ancient history, dolls have been used as a symbol of human beings in rituals to bring happiness, preventing bad luck, and to pray for abundant harvests.

The practice is like that of animism or ancient totemic faith, first originating from the ancient belief that human wishes are realized through dolls. Do attempts to bring this traditional belief back to today’s modern times, where the doll is simply used as a toy.

The name of the exhibition is “Fetishrama,” a portmanteau of “fetish” and “drama.” The artist expresses his fetish desires as realized through the dolls, dramatically exhibiting his subconscious of childhood and adolescent memories.

The gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
