AhnLab founder offloads more shares for charity organization

AhnLab, Korea’s leading antivirus software firm, said yesterday that its former chief executive sold off a 4.15 percent stake in the company.

Ahn Cheol-soo, the founder of AhnLab, unloaded 415,483 shares, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The sale came after a series of recent stake sales by Ahn. From Feb. 13 through Feb. 17, he sold off a total of 444,517 shares, or a 4.92 percent stake in the market.

The current dean of a postgraduate faculty at Seoul National University said prior to the stake sales that he plans to offload 860,000 shares so the money can be used to set up a nonprofit foundation. After the sale, Ahn is left with a 28.56 percent stake in Ahn Lab.
