Kumho Asiana courting Jilin

Kumho Asiana Group Chairman Park Sam-koo met?with Sun Zhengcai, Party Secretary of China’s Jilin Province, yesterday to discuss the group’s economic ties to China.

At the meeting at the group’s headquarters in Seoul’s Jongno District, Park stated the group’s desire to pursue more dynamic economic exchanges and cooperation with the province. He also revealed Kumho Asiana’s plans to ramp up its investments in China and continue making corporate social contributions to the northeast China province that borders North Korea.

Group subsidiaries including Kumho Tires, Asiana Airlines and Asiana IDT are actively conducting business in Jilin. Kumho Tires’ factory in Changchun, the provincial capital, began mass production in 2007 and now produces 4 million tires a year.

Asiana Airlines set up its Changchun branch in 1996 and currently operates seven flights a week.
