Shilla Duty Free establishes first foreign store in Singapore

Shilla Duty Free, Korea’s No. 2 duty-free shop chain operator, said yesterday that it opened its first overseas store in Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The company, which is the travel retail arm of Korea’s top conglomerate Samsung Group, said the shop is located in the third terminal of Changi and sells handbags, wallets and accessories.

Shilla Duty Free obtained the right to open and operate its first and second overseas stores at Changi Airport last year.

Its second duty free outlet will open soon, also in the third terminal, the company added.

“We are pleased to open our first overseas shop at the center of Changi Airport, a hub airport in Asia,” said an official from Shilla Duty Free. “We will step up our efforts to expand our overseas business.” Yonhap
