JYP in spotlight for altered photo
The picture showed fans in an area where experts determined they could not be naturally visible because of the lighting.
So, many netizens raised questions in the early morning about whether the agency altered the original to cover up empty seats. They also began questioning whether the group actually attracted 110,000 fans to the Tokyo Dome.
“We are truly sorry about the mistake made by the agency,” JYP said on its official Web site. “Most of the staff members were on site, and we had limited time to distribute photos to the media. So we asked another company to work on color modification, and in that process, a photo with an error was not properly checked and was distributed as a part of the official press package.” The local performance director later confirmed that the number of fans attending the concert was not inflated by the agency.
