Posco finishes construction on Turkey stainless steel plant
Top steelmaker Posco yesterday completed construction of a cold-rolled stainless steel production plant in Izmit, Turkey.The plant has an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons.
Posco Assan TST will be the sole stainless steel producer in Turkey, helping to fill a projected supply shortage of 1 million tons.
Multinational automakers Renault, Fiat, Ford, Nissan and Honda have already advanced into Turkey and the country also is a robust producer of home appliances.
The plant is expected to create synergy with another newcomer, ITPC, an Italian stainless steel manufacturing center.
Posco has completed a stainless steel production network of 3 million tons in China, Southeast Asia and Turkey.
