Actor Ryu Si-won has been ordered to pay 7 million won ($6,450) for using violence against his estranged wife and blackmailing her, said Seoul Central District Court yesterday.
In the ruling, Judge Lee Sung-yong found Ryu guilty of all charges against him, including installing a GPS tracker on his wife’s car in May 2011.
“In the submitted records, the sound of skin-on-skin contact can clearly by heard, and the wife’s voice sounded intimidated in the conversation afterward,” said Lee.
“Even though the intensity was light, it is determined that [Ryu] used violence against the wife.”
Lee also stated that Ryu’s comments may have constituted a threat to his wife.
Ryu and his wife were married in 2010 and are currently involved in a divorce suit.
