OCI plans construction of combined heat plant
OCI yesterday held a groundbreaking for a combined heat power plant at Saemangeum Industrial Complex in Gunsan, North Jeolla.The plant will be constructed on 160,000 square meters (39.5 square acres) of land. OCI said it will invest 500 billion won ($470 million) to complete the 303-megawatt plant by March 2016 and another 500 billion won to build an additional facility to provide steam to a nearby commercial and residential area. The company also said it plans to invest 2.2 trillion won to build a plant in the complex in order to expand its chemical business. OCI estimated the project will create 1,200 jobs and have a 10 trillion won economic impact.
