Dongbu Daewoo gets into booming dehumidifier trade

Dongbu Daewoo Electronics is entering the fast-growing dehumidifier market in Korea.

The home appliance maker said yesterday it will begin selling Klasse dehumidifiers.

Sales of dehumidifiers are growing in Korea as the climate shifts to subtropical under the influence of global warming.

In 2012, about 500,000 dehumidifiers were sold, which rose to 1.5 million last year.

This year, up to 2.4 million dehumidifiers, worth 800 billion won, are expected to be sold, the company said.

There are six Klasse models in three sizes: 15 liters (about 4 gallons), 16 liters and 17 liters. Prices range from 400,000 won to 500,000 won, the company said.
