Ryu to rejoin Dodgers rotation against Mets

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin, who has been on the disabled list since April 28 with inflammation in his left shoulder, will be ready to start against the New York Mets on Wednesday local time at Citi Field in New York, Manager Don Mattingly said Sunday.

Ryu told Korean media he felt shoulder pain in a start against the Colorado Rockies last month, saying the pain was similar to what he had when he played for the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization. He started rehabilitation sessions last Wednesday, successfully finished long-toss and bullpen sessions, then completed a simulation game on Saturday. The game against the Mets will be his first in 24 days.

Left-hander Paul Maholm, who had replaced Ryu in the starting rotation, will move to the bullpen, Mattingly said. Ryu’s record is 3-4 with 3.00 ERA.
