CJ E&M to fund movie of fledgling filmmaker

CJ E&M, one of the nation’s largest entertainment powerhouses, is again giving the chance of a lifetime to budding directors through its “Butterfly Project,” a competition held to unearth new filmmaking talent.

The winner will receive financial support from the company and an opportunity to realize their dream of making a movie.

From this year, the company will accept all types of scripts regardless of budget, scale, marketability, length and genre.

Three finalists will be announced in December, and the winner’s script will be adapted into a film next year.

Anyone with experience directing shorts or medium and feature-length films can apply, but the director should not have experience working on more than one feature film.

Last year’s project helped director Choi Jin-sung to release his movie “Steel Cold Winter.”

Submissions will take place from October 20 to 27 through the project’s official homepage www.cjenm.com/butterfly/butterfly.html or by mail.

The contest is open to Korean residents only. For more details, call 02-371-6047.
