Kia reports record number of pre-orders for Carnival

Kia Motors, Korea’s second largest automaker, said it received more than 5,000 orders for its new Carnival minivan in the two days since pre-orders started last Thursday.

The affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group said the number of contracts for the third generation Carnival was the largest pre-order in a two-day period for a Kia model. Previously, the K7 sedan held the record, 3,100 units, upon its release in Nov. 2009.

Kia’s monthly sales target for the latest Carnival is 4,000 units.
