Gyeonggi governor meets CEO of Blizzard Entertainment

Gyeonggi Governor Nam Kyung-pil met with Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of games such as Diablo, at the company’s headquarters in Irvine, California, on Thursday.

The game developer and publisher said yesterday that the visit was to discuss the Korean gaming industry and Gyeonggi’s role in it, since most local game developers are located at Pangyo Techno Valley, Seongnam, Gyeonggi.

Morhaime said government support is crucial for Korean game developers, known for their creativity, if they want to succeed overseas. He added that excessive regulations could hurt Korea’s competitiveness.
