New music from Girls’ Generation, JYJ ranks at the top in Japan

Girl group Girls’ Generation and boy group JYJ ranked at the top of Japanese music chart Oricon.

Girls’ Generation’s newest album “The Best,” released on July 23, ranked No. 1 on Oricon’s weekly album chart yesterday. The group has sold about 31,000 copies of the album so far.

The album includes many of the girls’ popular songs such as “Oh,” “Gee,” “Hoot” and its latest hit “Mr. Mr.” in Japanese.

JYJ ranked No. 2 on the chart. Close to 17,000 copies of the group’s album “Just Us” were sold on the first week of the album’s release, and the group took the second spot on Oricon’s weekly album chart yesterday.

The rank proves JYJ’s popularity in Japan, since the group’s new album was not officially released in Japan. “Just Us” is JYJ’s first album in three years after “In Heaven”.
