AKMU stays at No. 1 in charts

Brother-sister duo Akdong Musician, also known as AKMU, has remained on top of major music charts for three days in a row with their newly released digital single “Time and Leaves,” which was unveiled to the public at midnight on Friday.

The feat is gaining particular attention as the band went head to head with K-pop icon Seo Tae-ji for the top spot.

Seo debuted in the Korean music scene in the late 1990s as leader of the boy group Seo Tae-ji and Boys along with his old bandmate Yang Hyun-suk, who is now the head of YG Entertainment - home to musicians like AKMU.

It seems like AKMU and Yang have had a landslide victory because Seo’s “Sogyeokdong” and AKMU’s “Time and Leaves” were released on the same day. AKMU’s digital single topped seven music charts, while Seo’s made it to the top of only one.

But the face off between Seo and Yang is likely to resume next week.

Seo will release his ninth studio album next Monday, while YG Entertainment has teased that it will also release a new digital single from one of its musicians a day later, without revealing the name of the act.
