Sungdong shipbuilder wins order to build two oil tankers
Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said on Wednesday it has won a contract to build two, 157,000-ton shuttle tankers worth $200 million from a Greek company.The tankers will have a dynamic positioning system (DPS) that helps to directly load oil from marine oilfields and transport it to storage facilities on land. The company said a DPS helps keep vessels from shaking when oil drilling is under way.
This year, the company has won contracts to build 40 ships worth a total of 2.3 trillion won ($2.06 billion).
