Hwang and Ji together again
The two have acted together before in the drama series “Secret Love” last year, and they will now pair up in “Kill Me, Heal Me,” a new drama series that will begin airing next month on MBC.
In the series, Ji will play the role of Cha Do-hyun, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but is suffering from a multiple personality disorder.
Having seven different personalities, the drama series tells the story of Cha’s growth as he searches for his true self with the aid of Oh Ri-jin, a psychiatrist, played by Hwang.
The two eventually fall in love as the story evolves.
Actor Park Seo-joon of “Witch’s Romance” will also be a part of the drama series by playing Hwang’s twin.
Since Hwang and Ji earned the best fictional couple award last year for their performance in “Secret Love,” industry insiders have high expectations for their reunion.
The drama series is written by Jin Su-wan, who co-wrote the 2012 mega hit “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” which earned more than 40 percent viewership at the time. Drama series on big cable channels are generally considered successful if they surpass 5 percent viewership.
Hwang just finished the drama series “Endless Love.” In a press release on Friday, Hwang said she has come back to the screen because she “really liked Jin’s screenplay.”
Hwang is one of a few actress who has made a successful transition from singing into acting. She debuted in the late 1990s as a member of girl group Sugar when she was a teenager, but she walked out of the group and began acting. Since then, she has appeared in hit TV dramas likes “Golden Time” (2012) and “Can You Hear My Heart” (2011).
Ji has taken his time to find new roles after appearing in the film “Confession.”
According to many news outlets, he is going to become a father next summer. He married actress Lee Bo-young last year.
