Jung Yong-hwa goes solo

Jung Yong-hwa, the lead vocalist of K-pop boy band CNBlue, will release his first solo album sometime this month, according to Han Sung-ho, the head of CNBlue’s agency FNC Entertainment.

Han hinted earlier this month that a solo album of Jung will contain many collaborations with other musicians.

During a recent interview with a local magazine, Jung shared his plans for his first album by saying, “When I am part of the band, I try to follow the mainstream within the group, but I like the fact that I can become experimental for this solo album as much as I want.”

He went on, “I think I can broaden the scope of my music through this project and I also realized what I really want to achieve in music while working on this album.”

Meanwhile, Jung is showing other aspects of his talent by composing and writing songs. Last year, he wrote the melody and lyrics for “Can’t Stop” for CNBlue and the track set numerous records upon its release by topping many iTunes charts in Asian countries.

Billboard.com also wrote last month that “Can’t Stop” reminded some people of British rock band Coldplay.
