LS Cable to supply Irish state power company with cables

LS Cable & System said Tuesday it has inked an exclusive contract to supply 220-kilovolt transmission cables to Ireland’s only power transmission company, the state-funded ESB Networks. The company will supply cables until 2018 and expects to make about 40 million euros ($43 million) in sales.
The company said the demand for power in Ireland has been consistently increasing in line with the nation’s economic growth and that the cables will be used in the expansion of its national power network.
The underground cable to be supplied by LS C&S is an extra-high voltage cable to be installed in the underground areas of an urban center.
