Hankook boosts operating profit, sales for second quarter
Hankook Tire’s second quarter sales figure reached 1.6199 trillion won ($1.38 billion) and its operating profit marked 201.1 billion won, the company said on Friday.The quarterly sales and operating profit declined compared to a year ago, affected by the sluggish domestic and Chinese economy, growing competition in the market and unfavorable currency rate.
However, Hankook Tire’s sales volume in Europe and the North American region advanced by 12 to 14 percent year on year, according to the company.
Hankook Tire said it will strengthen its grip on the premium market in North America and Europe and work to grow as a leading global tire maker.
