Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Yoon Sang-jick and executives from 40 major conglomerates, including Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, Posco and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, are attending an export and investment forum in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday.
The Eastern Economic Forum, being held until Saturday, is an effort to discuss the country’s Far East development projects, part of President Park Geun-hye’s Eurasia Initiative. Yoon also aims to boost Korea’s exports to Russia by initiating the involvement of Korean companies in infrastructure, manufacturing and shipping in Far East development projects. The two countries will also discuss cooperation in developing Ulsan into an oil trade hub of Northeast Asia.
