European companies look to be merged with Korean firms

About 250 European companies have visited Korea hoping to pursue M&As with Korean counterparts.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Tuesday, some 80 local small and midsize companies held an M&A consultation meeting with European companies in Seoul.

The M&As help Korean companies strengthen technological competitiveness and better tackle the European market, the ministry said. By sector, some 55 auto parts makers, 33 fashion companies, 11 energy companies and the rest in food and heavy industries from Europe participated.

Several European M&A advising firms, investment banks and law firms took part. Back in 2013, 19 Korean companies, including SeAH Steel and Dongkook Industrial, acquired European companies.
