Silver Grass festival in Mapo starts next week
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Friday it’s holding the annual silver grass festival from Oct. 10 to 17 at Haneul Park, western Seoul.“Visitors will be able to feel the beauty of autumn and forget about their daily lives with music,” said Ahn Hae-chil, head of the park’s management office.
“I hope many people will visit the festival and get a chance to relax just like last year.”
The closing hour of the park will be extended to 10 p.m. from 8 p.m. for visitors to enjoy the night view of silver grass, or miscanthus sinensis, with colored lighting.
The theme of the festival is “Consolation from nature.” Reservations can be made for programs to make wooden ocarinas, bamboo bows and animal figures. The Korean Society for Meditation is running a therapy program, “Meditation in the silver grass,” for free. Reservations can be made on the website yeyak.seoul.go.kr.
Also, 12 performances are going to be held including magic shows, Korean traditional music and jazz. The performances start at 6 p.m. on Oct. 10, 11, 16 and 17.
