Taeyeon tops charts around the worldTaeyeon of the girl group Girls’ Generation topped the iTunes charts of 12 different countries, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand, as of Wednesday morning.
SM Entertainment, the singer’s agency, said on Wednesday that Taeyeon’s first solo song “I” was uploaded to iTunes at around 8 a.m. and instantly ranked No. 1 on 12 charts around the world.
The 26-year-old singer’s single also ranked within the top 10 in the iTunes charts of Mexico, Sweden, Finland and Portugal.
In Korea, “I” also ranked No. 1 on major online music charts.
Taeyeon wrote the song’s lyrics, which reportedly reflect on her experiences being in the limelight since she was a young child.
Taeyeon will begin promoting her solo album starting Thursday by appearing on TV music shows.
