WINTER GAMESFormer minister takes job as Pocog’s secretary-general
Yeo Hyeong-gu, the former vice minister of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, was officially appointed as the new secretary-general for the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (Pocog).
Pocog said on Monday that Yeo, 56, has immediately begun working to prepare for Korea’s first-ever Winter Games.
“We expect that his long service in government and strong leadership will contribute to strengthening support from both the local and national governments and the public,” Pocog said in a release.
Yeo spent 35 years working for the government before concluding his final position as the vice minister of the transport ministry last month.

LG Twins renew contracts with two foreign players
The LG Twins said on Monday that it has extended contract with two players from the Dominican Republic.
The Seoul-based Korea Baseball Organization club said that it inked a one-year deal worth $900,000 with right-handed pitcher Henry Sosa. The 30-year-old went 10-12 with a 4.03 ERA in 32 games this year.
The Twins, which finished ninth among 10 teams, also added that infielder Luis Jimenez has signed one-year deal worth $800,000. The 27-year-old had .312 batting average, 11 home runs and 46 RBIs in 70 games this year.
