Six stars confirmed for ‘Between the Scenes’

Six celebrities have been confirmed to star in tvN’s new reality program “Between the Scenes.”

Participating TV personalities include actors Ha Seok-jin, Shin Seung-hwan and Ahn Bo-hyun; actress Yoon So-hee; and singers Yura of K-pop group Girl’s Day and Lee Min-hyuk of boy group BTOB.

The upcoming program is unique because it mixes both drama and reality elements.

The show revolves around six celebrities starring in the romantic drama “Iron Lady” and shows how their fictional love lives in the show affect their real lives after they finish shooting.

The drama will air for around 20 minutes while the remaining 40 minutes will be filled with reality elements, showing how the celebrities feel toward their fictional partners after the shooting is completed.

The producer of the program, Son Chang-woo, explained the background behind how he came up with the show’s format.

“I got to come up with this new program format after seeing numerous [Hollywood] couples who ended up getting married after starring in the same project,” Son said during a press conference held at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo District, western Seoul, on Thursday. “I started wondering if Korean celebrities, too, could fall in love by co-starring in a drama.”

In accordance with the producer’s intention, the starring celebrities confessed that they felt some kind of romantic feelings toward their partner in the program.

“I did not believe that I could feel such emotion toward the fictional partner,” Ahn said. “But to my surprise, I did feel some kind of connection.”

He even added that he wished there had been more than eight episodes.

In response to whether they felt pressured about taking a role that would require them to expose their personal emotions, all six celebrities said that they wanted to be cast because they found the format highly unique and interesting.

The show, which will run for eight episodes, will begin airing at 9:45 p.m. on July 2.
