A computer-generated image shows the area where units 5 and 6 of the Shin Kori nuclear power plants will be constructed in Ulju County in Ulsan. The government issued approval on Friday for the plants following a review by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission. The government will spend a combined 8.6 trillion won ($7.3 billion) on the plants, each to be completed by March 2021 and March 2022. Construction is set to begin next Friday. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power filed an application for a safety review of the construction in 2012. They are set to become the country’s 29th and 30th nuclear power plants.
