HUFS professor receives Jean Monnet Chair

Kim Si-hong

Kim Si-hong, professor at the Graduate School of International & Area Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair on Sept. 1, the fifth Korean to receive the post. The Jean Monnet Chair is a university teaching post with a specialization in European Union studies.

The Directorate General of Education and Culture of the European Union offers the prestigious teaching post to highly qualified professors and senior researchers with a wide experience base and deep focus in European integration studies. Kim, who served as president of the Korean Society of Contemporary European Studies and director of the HUFS-Hyundai Research Institute EU Center, will hold the post for three years, receiving financial aid from the Directorate General of Education and Culture of the European Union.
