Sweden Laundry’s new offering of 13 delights for the contemporary “coffee house” indie genre delivers musical treats based on slow piano melodies and soft vocals.

The Korean indie duo originally debuted in 2010 with members Wang Se-yoon on the piano and Choi In-young providing vocals. Their mission from the beginning was to cleanse their listener’s hearts with romantic mid-tempo ballads, and have returned after their last release three years ago.

The beloved indie musicians are joined by a few musical guests, including renowned pianist Yiruma. Their track “Because it’s the First Time” combines the pianist’s signature melodic style and musical progression with the duo’s lyrical trademark about longing and love. The result is a collaboration that appears natural, yet distinctive.

Although the duo is careful not to experiment too much with their usual sound, the subtle additions of new instruments are a delicate step in the right direction. Together with the maturation of the duo’s lyrical poetry, this record will appeal to lovers of the genre.
