Daughter-in-law of CJ chairman found dead

The young daughter-in-law of Lee Jay-hyun, the chairman of CJ Group, was found dead in her home in New Haven, Connecticut on Friday.

Lee Rae-na, 20, had been married to the chairman’s eldest son and heir apparent, Lee Sun-ho, since April.

The cause of her death is not yet known.

Lee was a daughter of Lee Yong-kyu, a member of the band Koreana best known for singing the official song of the Seoul 1988 Summer Olympics. She was also related to Korean actress Clara Lee.

“We are in the process of finding out the details,” a CJ Group spokesperson said, adding that the cause of Lee’s death will be determined following a police investigation. “Currently, the family members are filled with grief.”

Lee was an undergraduate at Yale University, but was not enrolled this semester. She had been a member of the fencing team and as a high school student competed in the 2013 U.S. Summer Junior Nationals.
