Daesang divides business unit

Daesang Group, a family-run food-oriented conglomerate, split its food and materials units to raise each business’ competitiveness.

It appointed Lee Sang-chul as the new president of its food business unit, who began his career at Miwon Specialty Chemical, a raw materials company. He moved to Daesang in 2011. Since 2016, Lee has overseen Daesang’s food business.

Jeong Hong-eun will be president of the materials business unit. Jeong has overseen the company’s material business since 2016.

“The reorganization is to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary and raise the competitiveness of each business unit,” Daesang said in a statement. “We will strive to occupy a stable position in the global market.”

Lim Se-ryung, the first daughter of Daesang Group chairman Lim Chang-wook, has been promoted from managing director to executive director of its food business.

Her younger sister, Lim Sang-min, has been promoted to executive director of its materials business.
