Kia Sportage, Soul earn top ratings in U.S. crash test
Two of Kia Motors’ compact vehicles won the highest safety rating for the 2018 model year in a U.S. crash test, the company said Friday.For doing well in all five crashworthiness tests carried out by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Kia’s compact crossover Sportage and Soul boxcar earned the Top Safety Pick+ award, Kia Motors said.
In order to be named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the five tests: small front overlap, moderate front overlap, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats. It also has to be mated with advanced front crash prevention technology and good headlights.
