Renault Samsung’s SM6 production exceeds 100,000

Renault Samsung Motors said Sunday that the production of its SM6 midsize sedan for domestic sale has surpassed 100,000 cars, nearly two years after hitting the market.

The Korean unit of French carmaker Renault reached the milestone 22 months after the SM6 debuted in Korea in March 2016.

Lee Ki-in, an executive vice president at Renault Samsung Motors, said he will maintain the success of the SM6 through strong quality control.

Last year, the carmaker sold a combined 276,808 vehicles, up 7.6 percent from 2016. The increase was helped by robust exports of the SM6 midsize sedan and QM6 SUV, according to the company. Yonhap
