Samsung Pay now has more than 10 million users

Samsung Electronics said Monday that the number of users of Samsung Pay, its mobile payment platform, reached the 10 million mark as of last month, less than three years after it introduced the system. The Korean tech giant said the milestone was achieved in March, with the total value of transactions made through the platform amounting to 18 trillion won ($17.1 billion).

Samsung Pay was first released in August 2015, and raked in 1 million users in its first two months. As of August 2017, its accumulated transactions reached 10 trillion won.

While Samsung Pay was initially introduced only on premium smartphones, Samsung has been making efforts to release the service to other budget models as well, including the Galaxy A and J series.
