Tartine Bakery opens second Seoul branch in Ryse hotel

Tartine Bakery, based in San Francisco, will open a second branch at a new hotel in western Seoul today.

The second branch will have two different sections - a coffee bar and a toast bar - to be located in the lobby of Ryse, Autograph Collection, in Seogyo-dong, Mapo District, western Seoul.

The coffee bar, which will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., will serve Tartine Bakery’s signature pastries, including croissants, and coffee from Tartine Coffee Manufactory. Visitors to the toast bar, which will be open from 10 a.m. until midnight, can try out a variety of sandwiches as well as craft beer and wine.

The legendary San Francisco bakery opened its first overseas branch in Hannam-dong, central Seoul, in January after joining forces with an heir to Aju Group, a conglomerate in the construction business, who also runs the Ryse hotel.

The opening of the second branch has been propped up by the immense success of the Hannam branch.

The company is considering a third overseas location of Tartine Bakery in Tokyo, according to a source familiar with the matter.
