TheEastLight. members file lawsuit

Lee Seok-cheol and his younger brother Lee Seung-hyun - both former members of the band TheEastLight. - are taking legal action against producer Moon Yeong-il, claiming that Moon physically and verbally abused the band’s members for four years, according to their lawyer Cheong Ji-seok on Monday.

“The father of the band members is filing a lawsuit against producer Moon today at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency,” the lawyer said.

The lawyer also released pictures of bruises that both band members sustained on their heads, arms and legs to the media.

During a press conference on Oct. 19, Lee Seok-cheol, the 18-year-old leader of the group, spoke out about the abuse the members suffered from 2015 to 2017. According to him, the producer at Media Line Entertainment threatened to kill them if they told their parents about the abuse.

“Bandmate Lee Seung-hyun was confined to the producer’s studio and was hit in his arms, thighs and head [with a baseball bat and a mop] until he was bruised. Vocalist Lee Eun-sung was also beaten until he bled,” he said. He also added that he was strangled by a guitar string.

After the press conference, the head of the band’s agency, Kim Chang-hwan denied the allegations. The agency also announced that they have begun the procedures for terminating the contracts of the four remaining members of the group.

TheEastLight., debuted in 2016 and is made up of members who are in their teens.
