KT says it has created Korea’s 1st cloud-based BaaS system

KT announced Thursday that it has developed what it calls Korea’s first cloud-based Blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) platform. KT will adopt its BaaS platform for use in its own office first and officially launch it for use by other companies beginning in March.
BaaS is a private blockchain platform that helps customers build their own blockchain-based applications without spending money and time on blockchain infrastructure. Major BaaS vendors today include Amazon’s AWS, IBM and Microsoft’s Azure.
According to KT, its BaaS platform will enable non-specialists to easily handle blockchain’s key technologies. The tech giant will also provide ongoing support to ensure the platform’s stable operation.
“We hope that blockchain will become more popular with KT’s BaaS. Our service can help propel Korea to become the No. 1 country in the global blockchain business,” said Seo Yeong-il, head of KT’s blockchain business center.
