Denmark’s royals to visit Hyundai store in Seongnam

The crown prince of Denmark will visit the Hyundai Department Store in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, today, the store announced Monday.

Crown Prince Frederik Christian visited Korea with his wife, Crown Princess Mary, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Denmark relations.

As part of an effort to promote Danish brands sold at the store, the prince will attend Denmark Lifestyle Week, jointly hosted by Hyundai Department Store and the Danish Embassy in Korea.

Denmark Lifestyle Week is a cultural event in which Danish products, from furniture to ceramics, are displayed. It is the third such event held in the Pangyo branch in Seongnam since 2017. This year’s event will run through Sunday.

A total of eight living brands, like Flying Tiger Copenhagen, and four food companies, including brewery firm Carlsberg, are taking part.

“In Hyundai Department Store’s living section, sales of North European brands like those from Denmark have annually shown two-digit growth,” said a spokesperson for Hyundai Department Store. “We hope the visit by the royals will lead to an increased recognition of Danish brands.”
